The Conductor

Fabrizio Barchi embarked on his journey as a choir conductor in 1979. During this period, he honed his musical skills at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome, under the tutelage of maestros Raffaele Baratta, Bonifacio Baroffio, Domenico Bartolucci, and Armando Renzi. He also enriched his expertise by attending courses with maestros Gary Graden, Jurgen Jurgens, Peter Neumann, Francesco Luisi, and Adone Zecchi.

Throughout his career, Barchi has established and led choirs in both associative and educational contexts. Notable among these are the “Corale San Filippo” (1979-1998), the “Città di Cerveteri” choir (1985-1989), and the children’s choir “Primavera” (1995-2010). Currently, besides directing the Musicanova choir, he leads the female choir “Eos,” the youth choir “Iride,” and the choirs of the “Primo Levi” and “Enriques” high schools in Rome. Under his direction, various groups have achieved first prizes and accolades in regional, national, and international choral competitions (Arezzo, Gorizia, Maribor, Tours, Marktoberdorf, Vittorio Veneto, Rome, Rieti, Benevento, Vallecorsa, Zagarolo).

From 1980 to 1993, Barchi taught music education and has been the chair of Choral Conducting for Didactics at the Lorenzo Perosi Conservatory in Campobasso since 1993.

He also conducts courses on youth choral singing for regional choral associations, Feniarco (the National Federation of Regional Choral Associations), educational authorities, and universities. Additionally, he frequently serves as a juror in choral competitions.

Fabrizio Barchi has collaborated as a choir master in the staging of operas and the production of soundtracks with composers Ennio Morricone and Marco Frisina. He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia and the Music Committee of the Ministry of Education, University, and Research. As the deputy choir master of the “Cappella Musicale Lateranense,” he is also the artistic director of the “Corali a Roma” event.
